Central trade unions have written to Union HRD Minister urging him to defer the Joint Entrance Examination scheduled on January 8 in view of their planned countrywide strike on that day.

Minister of Human Resource Development Ramesh Pokhriyal recently revealed in Rajya Sabha that over the past five years, 7248 students have dropped out of IITs for several reasons, including better opportunities found outside of IIT.
IIT Delhi Releases Schedule for GATE 2020
The organising institute for GATE 2020 has released the date sheet. This time, GATE 2020 will be held in February 1st week over eight sessions for 25 subjects. According to IIT Delhi, 8.6 Lakh students have registered to take the exam.
NIT students can opt for PhD at IIT Delhi without GATE
The Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, will sign Memorandum of Understanding with select National Institutes of Technolgy in the initial phase of the new admission policy. The new admission policy will come in effect from the academic year 2020-21. But not everyone is happy with this new policy.

Indian Institute of Technology-Delhi has released mock tests for GATE 2020 on the official website. Gate 2020 is scheduled in February next year. Applicants can start practising for the exam through the links to the mock tests.
JEE Mains 2020 adds separate paper for B.Planning admission
Come January 2020, the JEE Mains will now have three papers – Paper 1, Paper 2 and Paper 3. The third one to debut in the 2020 exams will be for admission to the Bachelor of Planning. Paper 1, remains for those who seek admission into B.E or B.Tech programs, while Paper 2 is for Bachelors in Architecture.
